A 30-day stay that starts on 1 March ends on 30 March. That date is inclusive: you can still leave on 30 March.

Extensions are applied for on evisa.imigrasi.go.id from 14 days before expiry, and include a visit to immigration for biometrics.
Overstay costs IDR 1,000,000 a day
Per person, from the first day, with no grace period. Over 60 days can mean deportation and a re-entry ban.

Visa exemption applies to citizens of the ASEAN countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam) and of Belarus, Brazil, Colombia, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Macau, Peru, Suriname and Türkiye. Fees are the official government fees and can change.
Frequently asked questions
How is my last day of stay counted?
The day you arrive counts as day 1, and the last day is inclusive. A 30-day Visa on Arrival that starts on 1 March is valid up to and including 30 March, so you can fly out on 30 March. Staying into 31 March is an overstay. A 60-day C1 visa that starts on 1 March is valid up to and including 29 April.
When should I apply for an extension?
A Visa on Arrival extension can be submitted on evisa.imigrasi.go.id from 14 days before your stay expires until the day before. After paying you have to visit an immigration office for a photo, usually one working day later, so apply at least a week ahead. For a C1 visa, start about 14 days before expiry: processing takes several working days.
Can I extend a visa exemption?
No. The 30-day visa exemption cannot be extended or converted into another visa inside Indonesia. If you might need more time, enter on a Visa on Arrival or get a C1 visa before you travel.
What happens if I overstay?
The fine is IDR 1,000,000 per person for every day over, starting on the first day. It is paid to immigration before you can leave. Overstaying more than 60 days can lead to detention, deportation and a ban on returning to Indonesia.
Can I extend after my stay has expired?
No. An expired stay permit cannot be extended: you pay the overstay fine and leave the country. Apply for the extension while your current stay is still valid.
How can I stay in Indonesia longer?
A Visa on Arrival gives up to 60 days with its extension and a C1 tourist visa up to 180 days with two extensions. For longer stays you need a stay permit such as an investor, retirement or second home KITAS. Ask KIA Consulting which one fits your plans.
