Since 2024 Indonesia gives visa-free entry to a short list of countries chosen on reciprocity and benefit, rather than the 169 countries of the old rules. In July 2026 six countries were added, bringing the list to 19. Everyone else needs a visa, usually the Visa on Arrival.
- 19 countries and territories have visa-free entry to Indonesia, plus holders of certain Singapore residence permits.
- Added on 9 July 2026: Turkey, Brazil, Peru, Kazakhstan, Macau and Belarus.
- The stay is at most 30 days and cannot be extended or changed to another stay permit.
- Visa-free travellers must enter through the immigration checkpoints designated by the Minister.

The rules
- You may stay for up to 30 days.
- The stay cannot be extended and cannot be changed into another stay permit while you are in Indonesia.
- You must enter through an immigration checkpoint designated by the Minister.
- The visa exemption covers tourism, family visits, meetings, exhibitions and transit.
The list is reviewed at least every six months, and the Minister can suspend visa-free entry for reasons of security or public health, so check before you travel.
If your country is not on the list
Most visitors buy the Visa on Arrival, online in advance as an e-VoA or at the airport. It gives 30 days and can be extended once. For stays of up to 180 days, apply for the C1 visa before you travel. Even if you are visa-free, choose the Visa on Arrival when you might need more than 30 days, because the visa exemption cannot be extended.
Count your days
Your arrival day is day 1. Our Visa Calculator shows the last day of a visa-free stay, a Visa on Arrival or a C1 visa, and what an overstay would cost.
